Behind Flute & Synth
I’m Dan Fahy, Founder & Director of Flute & Synth. I have 25+ years’ experience in the wider media sector with stints based in the United Kingdom and Australia. I have held leadership roles with Paramount Global, WarnerMedia, BBC Studios and Discovery Eurosport. With those companies, I have designed, built and lead growth teams and architected market strategy for scale consumer digital products, nearly always alongside complex, TV/Film-focussed commercial negotiations.
My company name, Flute & Synth, embodies two principles – ‘to start’, and ‘to synthesise’.
The first musical instrument is believed to have been a bone flute made from a bird’s wing bone. From this most basic of starts, the kaleidoscopic world of music as we know it today began.
‘Synthesise’ speaks to the advantages of multi-disciplinary thinking. For companies in the media sector, this can mean simply looking outside a functional ‘silo’ or beyond a specific industry vertical for new insights, to furnish their ‘start’ with breakthrough momentum. For me, ‘Synthesis’ is also about finding people with cross-discipline expertise and skills to add to client projects - I will frequently look to bring people who have unique skills and expertise into client engagements.
My aim with Flute & Synth is to connect UK, EU or US-headquartered companies with market opportunity in Australasia and APAC. I join existing teams and executive groups and work cross functionally to build a plan to secure a specific opportunity.
Companies can leverage my wide network of media and entertainment contacts across UK & Europe, North America and key East Asian / Asia Pacific markets, and I readily add additional expertise to projects to suit a company’s particular opportunity.
